Alien
Try looking into Gozo. Rented a self catering cottage with pool a few years back. Excellent diving. We also rented a private boat and circumnavigated the Island. The small island of Comino is close, also worth a day trip especially if you like fish eating from your hands:)
Grandad.Malky
Don't go Why ............ I have been a number of times and enjoyed it, there are few beaches or “red lion “ pubs selling all day breakfasts with English sausages and HP sauce but I would assume anyone doing their homework would already know that. Joe-Public
Try Aporto Azzuro Apartment / Hotel, St Paul's Bay. You can either stay self catering are half board, with a restaurant for meals etc. Supermarket on site, Good Bar which serves meals and a nice pool. No need for a car, Bus service is great and a real experience. Sister hotel called the Sea Bank is near to the ferry crossing to Gozo, also worth a visit. Reasonable prices for accommodation, staff friendly and a mix of young and mature customers. Take Care

If you're prepared to travel I don't think you can be there a week without encountering one...they have so many saints. I think they even have a Saint Bert.
