Very tasty
For instance? Any actual examples, or just hysterical tabloid nonsense? What has been liberalised, then exploded? Er, Gambling, the porn industry !
Glamrocker
I wouldn't know. Why do you ask? I'm not talking about girls who walk the street, I'm talking about female escorts. There is loads of them in Sheffield, I know a couple (the are friends). I'm telling you now, they live a really nice, wealthy life! Escorts mean they are upmarket ..still prostitutes at the end of the day,and indeed during the day..Its like the man at the bar,he asks a flash bird if she wants to spend a weekend on a luxury liner with everything thrown in ..she says of course I do...he then says would you like to spend a weekend in a caravan in Cleethorpes,,,she says of course not what do you take me for ..he says ..we have already worked that bit out we're just haggling on your price
roger_pearse
A story in today's Daily Mail seems relevant, illustrating the distance between image and reality in these sorts of institutions: Playboy mansion? More like a squalid prison: Former Playmates tell of 'grubby' world inside Hugh Hefner's empire.

Now, your evidence that brothels are more dangerous for working girls. Seventh time.

I have no evidence to any claim of this sort nor would I say more dangerous, the argument in the past was that it would be safer inside than out but judging by reports of the people who are now taking over the running of the brothels and their ways ,that reasoning seems to fly straight through the window..a striping is a striping be it indoors or out

How weird, you've only recently arrived yet spring to the defence of bassman and answer questions addressed to other people. Mmmmm.

You think a story illustrating the squalid reality of a brothel has "nothing to do with the subject" of legalising brothels? None so blind... Now, your evidence that brothels are more dangerous for working girls. Seventh time. I've responded to this mendacious demand several times, and you ignored everything I said. In particular you didn't reply when I asked whether brothels would be mandatory or not; if not, then streetwalking will continue as now. Or are you advocating that women can only sell themselves if owned by a pimp, enforced by the police? But you won't discuss that either, I'm sure. Basically once you have a brothel which the police cannot interfere in, a whole load of nastiness can go on. At the moment, the police break up such places. But I think we have amply established that "spindrift" is desperate to legalise brothels -- we need hardly ask why -- and the welfare of society, prostitutes, or anything else is not something he is interested in discussing. spindrift
A brothel is a less safe environment for a woman than the streets, precisely because it is legal and the police cannot interfere except on technical grounds. Forty streetwalkers have been killed, twenty four murders remain unsolved. How many people have been killed in brothels? You must know the answer to this because you confidently state brothels are more dangerous. Why do you think the police cannot enforce the law in brothels? What's your evidence brothels are more dangerous?
