Will the VAT rise alter your spending habits?

Recommended Posts

So, aren't the ones with more money better able to afford the VAT increase than the poorest in society who are being hit disproportionately hard? And in order to pay for the greed and stupidity of the wealthiest?

The vat increase hits everyone the same, the ones with more money have to spend more money for them to carry on in the lifestyle they want or tighten their belts, the less fortunate either carry on or tighten their belts, simple as that, its happened and we just have to get on with it. I don't actually see it making that much difference at all really.

VAT on toilet rolls but no VAT on newspapers....no wonder my granddad used to cut the star into squares and put them on that nail behind the toilet door..:hihi::hihi::hihi:happy days

Toilet rolls probably cheaper than the Star these days.

Chocolate bars (Mars, Galaxy, Dairy Milk etc), All ice cream, fruit cordial/squash (dilute to taste) all have VAT on them.

This tax increase is a deliberate attack upon the poorest families in the land. It is a swipe by the super wealthy at disadvantaged children...

At least it will save them from any obese problems later.

How much extra will we have to pay for a Mars bar now?

the poor should not be eating chocolate and ice cream and orange squash...plenty of fruit in the orchards and water from the tap...its all free...just like when we were kids
