spindrift
The motorist is the easy target , it dosnt involve having to do any police work , just point a camera ,and hey presto , the cash comes rolling in . Don't speed and you won't get fined.
LardyBoy
Don't speed and you won't get fined. Would you say that doing 65 on an empty duel carrigeway at 2am is dangerous and should be pushished with points and a fine ? Would you say doing 45 in a 40 zone at 2am where the road is empty is dangerous and should be punished with points and a fine ? Have you NEVER drifted over the speed limit ? Anna Glypta
Aren't the locations published in the press anyway? I went into the police station in Dronfield and the copper behind the desk gave me a DVD with the location of all the speed cameras marked. I don't think it is exactly being kept secret. mj.scuba
Could you be prosecuted if you stood roadside a couple of hundred yards in front of a mobile speed trap with a sign or placard saying 'Police speed check 200 yards'?

Can you name a road where you can guarantee nobody is disturbed, annoyed, or threatened by your speeding? The only way to tell for sure would be to go back and ask every pedestrian, cyclist, resident and road user whether your speeding bothered them. Since residents regularly cite speeding boy racing idiots as their number one anti-social behaviour concern it looks like you are in denial about the real impact of speeding. Agent Orange
The motorist is the easy target , it dosnt involve having to do any police work , just point a camera ,and hey presto , the cash comes rolling in . What a stupid statement. Traffic cops deal with traffic crime so it is their 'work'.

To replace them all with coppers would mean 24,000 extra police officers. The cost would be extortionate. Cameras save time and money and free up police officers to catch other idiot drivers. Only from the ones who were breaking the law. If you stick to the speed limit, no cash comes in at all!

Surely it would be as easy as it being a road with no houses and no other traffic, which is fairly easy to observe...
Cyclone
Only from the ones who were breaking the law. If you stick to the speed limit, no cash comes in at all! Or break the law in other more serious ways and find that cameras are useless, unlike police officers in those situations.
