Have you ever badgered someone into doing something with the belief that it was the right thing and it turned out to be totally the wrong thing? Does reverse psychology work? If I say you are wrong and should feel guilty, will you: a) laugh and do the opposite or b) feel wrong and guilty As they say "to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction", true?
