Lunar25 Posted August 21, 2015 Share Posted August 21, 2015 I strongly recommend Mister Gearbox based on Trent Street, Attercliffe. Really friendly and honest, and know exactly what they are doing. Keep you well informed and updated, did a really great job on a complex problem with my car and from now on will be using as my regular garage. They also look at automatic gearboxes. ---------- Post added 21-08-2015 at 18:10 ---------- Stay well clear from SMK Cars Swinton. They sold me a car last year which has had nothing but faults from start to finish. Within a few months my gearbox was jerking constantly, meaning the car would not get past 30mph on occasions and it would happen unexpectedly, even driving on dual carriageways which was just dangerous. SMK did not want to know about this but I was fooled by a friendly salesman who I thought was selling me a genuinely decent car (it was fine on the test drive and then after that there would be something wrong with it - in the past three months I have had to have a new start motor fitted and then my gearbox sorted, which of course, this is so expensive. This car has caused me so much stress and in actual fact, there were days where I would not even drive it but get three buses to work for the sheer fact I would feel like something would end up being wrong with it. I used to go to Charlie Brows in H'bro and rec'd excellent service - I have since tried their partner company (naming no names) and had poor service. Any recommendations please?
