gunner1980
Hi, Seem have a prob with my car, when in low rev's under 2k I get a loud rattling sound, kinda sounds like something is loose. Car is a 1L petrol. Not very mechanically minded so any info is appreciated, just really want ideas as to what it could be so I dont get ripped off by a garage! Thanks in advance! danny11
it sounds like a heat shield loose near exhaust
GrannyGranny
Ditto heat shield. Have got this problem on my car since I bought it 4 months ago. Its just where the brackets come away from the actual shield. They are pretty brittle. Don't know if you can repair it or have to fit a new one. gunner1980
Would I be able to see said part then just by looking under car for something hanging off?
B.J.Mason
Yes , it'll either be above the back box or the central section , if you can get underneath you should be able to feel which bit is loose,if you struggle give us a buzz on 2580923 and I'll put you on to Barry to explain

RootsBooster
Just rip it off. it doesnt do that much anyway Unless it's directly beneath your fuel tank or pipes. Also protects other low-melting point parts (plastics mainly)
Resident
From personal experience, look at the boot lid, if it says VAUXHALL then you've found your problem.
