Is loyalty to the crown a pre-requisite to being a worthwhile citizen?

Recommended Posts

If you'd even looked at the statistics in the link you would know that republicans and catholic civilians killed by the army are in two distinct categories.

On the contrary, you are misinterpreting it, and what is more, it is clear from what you are saying that you have either not looked at the link, or have conveniently failed to understand it.

I think we should probably end this debate about which side killed more people in respect for the families of the victims.

How many Tory MPs are for abolishing the monarchy's role as compared to how many Labour MPs?

How many Tory MPs are related to monarchy? :)

Your clichés don't hold weight either, because the Labour Party are not socialist. It's not my place to defend them, I haven't voted for them since the Iraq war started.

I totally agree with every word you said. I lived in Canada some years ago and had to kneel down with a bible and pledge my allegiance to their government (not their royalty who was ours) before I was excepted as a Canadian citizen just for policies and procedures). Do we still do this here ? As you say the Queen and her offspring come from the hieracy I do like to listen to the news but they are so far away from the REAL LIFE that we all live in that I prefer to not make any judgements about them because I am quite happy with the way my life is going for the time being...... I was out of work for 4 years and then I got on with things and did my own thing. Now im in work so this is why im quite happy as the job ive got enables me to have a good life and I really do love my job. Well im going on one here so please just read this and enjoy.
I took the oath of allegiance given by a judge in Newfoundland sipping a glass of Newfie rum with his honour asking me why the hell ] wanted to become a citizen of Canada. Newfie was the last province to join Canada in 1949 and many didn't want including his honour.:)

What does that matter to monarchy?

An attack against Republicanism as "left wing" is the same as attacking the Tea Party for being "right wing". Republicanism could be called left-wing, but that doesn't make it worthless. A political ideology doesn't make all ideas "wrong" by default.

You've tried calling us Bolshies, you've tried blaming the Labour party, what next? Come up with 1 single reason why anyone should have a job because their mother or father held the same position and you might have an adequate defence of the system.

The system is so entrenched in British culture anything less than a revolution and it's here to stay I'm afraid.

As for loyalty, it's just a word with very little meaning. One minute loyal the next disloyal... and that's to people you REALLY know, inc family. My loyalty and citizenship has zero bearing on who I am as a person born to these islands. She has no more right to be where she is than anyone else.

Change a couple of circumstances and I'd be off this island in a heartbeat.:hihi:
