max
It's been annoying me for a while too. I'm not sure most of those that use the "gate" bit even realise the Watergate scandal had little to do with either gates or water - just the name of a building! If it happened today it would probably be known as Watergategate.
max
I dunno, these people nicking mitchell and webb jokes for forums.... Correct, you don't know. Mitchell and Webb were way behind The New York Times. Your go to see if you can find an earlier source.
Kaimani
............the word "gate" being used as a suffix for EVERY controversial incident that happens (Beckhamgate, Irangate, Contragate etc etc etc) Zzzzzzzzzzzzz. The Watergate scandal is probably not even known or understood by most people today so has hardly any relevance. Please stop. stargate.
