kathill73
Can you put laminate straight on top of carpet as a friend has and said you can lol
Frazer1974
yes you can. Whether it's a good idea tho, is another question. If it's too spongy it'd bend under your weight every time you walked on it, and crack quite quickly. Perhaps you could lay it on that furry lino-style carpet stuff, but a proper carpet and underlay would be too much give.
R.B Flooring
I wouldn't recommend it. Like Frazer1974 said. It's to spongy. The floor won't last as long as it should. If you've already payed for the laminate than you might aswell pay that bit extra and do it right.
trickymicky
Not all carpet fitter will put a carpet on top of laminate, We were told to take it up in our bedroom which we did, But in our dinning room the carpet the fitter let us keep it down, We have had no problems at all no movement or sponginess. Sausage Dog
I think it will depend on the type of carpet. If it's got lots of pile, I think it's a bit risky, but if it's the sort that it very flat and firm, then might be ok.
Rampent
buy why would you want to do it? Dunt make sense! It makes total sense to me. Ripping up carpet can be a nightmare. Dust everywhere. Putting a laminate on top makes for a shiny new room, a lot of carperts can become soiled, and a tight fitting top will cover odours.
