GrannyGranny
Astra's are popular with the car thieves, less so I would expect are A2s. Also A2s are relatively scarce. No idea what other suitable cars are cheap to insure but costs seem to be going up no matter what car you have. You could always move out to the country, my insurance reduced by nearly 25% when I moved from S7 to Lincolnshire (cheaper housing too)
Gary Davis
Something else to consider. I have found that it is a lot cheaper to insure my car fully comp than third party. fire & theft. Weird that an insurance company will take on more responsibility for less premiums.
BananaSplit
When I was adding my 19 year old onto my car, the comparison websites were the worst of the lot! I ended up with Aviva - it was still a hefty amount, but almost 2/3rds cheaper than the average price I got on the comparison site. One other thing that got it down by another couple of hundred quid, was to take out their breakdown cover - that cost about 60 quid for the year, but brought the premium down overall because they do a discount for multiple policies.
