Homophobia: 5 charged with calling for execution of gays

Why don't the tolerant Muslims do more to curb the activities of those who are doing stuff like this? They are after all part of the same community and have a common interest.

The article clearly says that they handed out the leaflets outside the Mosque. So why didn't the Mosque elders do something there and then?

The same question could be asked of any community, what has the community at large done to curb the hate spreading activities of the EDL? Besides, what was it they were calling for, Murder, or a change in the Law? one illegal but the other although vile but still only a calling for change in the Law as far as I understand it.

What if a small group were calling for the legalisation for Muslims to be executed, just for being Muslims? Would that be OK with you as they are only arguing for a change in the law?

Have you ever heard of the UAF? Luton in harmony? The politicians who are without fail 100% against the EDL? The Trade Unions? (Aslef are supporting the UAF counter demo on Saturday.) Christian Religious leaders? The list goes on. You have clearly never heard of these people and groups or you'd know that the community does oppose the EDL.

Maybe you should answer the question you were responding to instead of answering a question with a question.

You've got it the wrong way round.

Why do you think a racist assault is treated more seriously than a straightforward assault?

Because a racist assault threatens everyone of that race.

So if racism is a motivating factor the sentence is harsher.

Makes sense doesn't it?

Because of positive discrimination giving greater legal support to minorities than the mainstream population.

very good, so they have all these people of the community against them which begs the question why do they still exist?

Similarly you have many a folk in the Muslim community against the extremists with examples such as the nutter who blew himself up in Scandinavia being throwm out of the Luton Mosque but no that is not enough. The fact of the existence of extremists is often used as though the Muslim community is not doing anything against them. My comparison to the Edl or even other extremist organisations is simply to illustrate the double standards being used in the question posed. Why point fingers at others when every track record of majority of all peoples is to avoid trouble from the idiots be they of Muslim extremist persuasion or the Edl.

and your problem with that is perhaps the word legalised? Do you realise people want execusions for many other crimes but it's not about to happen without Parliament say so.
