soft ayperth
People would be literally running across town to catch the bus. Like being in the middle of a cross country sprint.

patto
Used to get off a bus from Gleadless about 11.10 and sprint to Castlegate to get 11.15 Shirecliffe bus. It was the stop nearest Lady's Bridge. If I was a few seconds late and it had left, I sometimes caught the one from the stop next to it. 97 to Southey Green. All in the persuit of love. Been to see my girlfriend at Gleadless.
madasfish
Does anyone on here remember when all the last Buses left Pond Street at 11.15pm on the signal of an inspectors whistle ? I can remember all the buses jostling for position down Pond Hill, near the Queens Head, like the first bend at Silverstone. Happy Memories, although I did miss the last 92 or 93 most weekends !!!!!!! Can remember this - and the 2.00 am high street whistle too - it was always a chocie between the last dance or the bus home!
