One of those instances where change is not a good thing. It's not just Hallam though. There isn't really a station I feel comfortable listening to these days. I'm far happier with my CDs in the car.

wearysmith
Late 70s, late-night radio. One DJ on Radio Hallam was leaving. It was his last show. He said "I'd like to dedicate this song to all the management here at Radio Hallam....". He then played Ian Dury's 'Plaistow Patricia'. You know, the version that starts off with "A*seholes, ********, ****ing **** and ******......". I was laying on my bed with my headphones on. I nearly wet 'em laughing. When the record's done he comes back on air, dead-pan, apologising profusely saying "I'm so sorry, I didn't realise there was an 'adult' version of that song. Deepest regrets if I've offended any of you fine listeners out there....". Yeah, right 😀. I took it that he wasn't leaving the station of his own accord. Can't recall the lad's name but it was one hell of a send-off.

Gormenghast
Whatever happened to Martin's pal Edouard Lapaglie? Martin used to do Brown Bread, How Old Cary Grant etc. Any more you can remember?
YorkieontheTyne
When he sat in for Sarah Kennedy on wireless 2 back in the day he used to broadcast “to the whole of the UK including Shepshed and Kegworth”.

I enjoy diversity; things I know and things I don't. And I loathe adverts. When she's not in the car I'll switch to R4 or R2. Her motor doesn't have a CD player in it! Ridiculous design flaw.
