OapOnDole
I'm fully entitled to my benefits because me and his mam have worked all our lives, full time bringing him up. But he has no kids so he's not entitled to a darn penny.

onewheeldave
so you're suggesting i should lie on my CV about something i'm proud of? The suggestion was to omit reference to your phd. It's pretty standard advice, when applying for menial jobs, to not mention things like a phd, on the grounds that, if you do, you'll likely be considered overqualified for the position thereby no be given the job. In answer to your op, I'd say that there's no reason to feel ashamed of being employed- there's many valid reasons why some people don't work, and, in the current climate, the lack of available work means we'll always have a quota of unemployed, even if they did all try to get work. But, you did say you were desperate to work and implied you'd take any work going? If so, then of course you need to be willing to tailor your CV/application forms to maximise your chances of getting the job, and, for many jobs, that means not including the phd. Cyclone
the country should be ashamed we have unemployed not you. He's unemployed (if he actually exists) due to mental issues and an inability to tailor his CV when applying for jobs. How is this the countries fault?
