INTERVIEWER
I always though it was Thatcher that negociated a rebate from the EU and Tony Blair that gave it back to them. David Cameron recently took the £450 million EMA funding (for students from a low income household) and has given it to the European Union, after he stated that he would settle for nothing less than a cut in the UK's EU budget contribution. boyfriday
That is the trouble, it is multiculturalism rather than one culture. Multiculturalism is separatism which divides and separates. I dont agree with that, Britain as a country is as diverse as it's possible to be, even if you took Islam out of the equation.
spindrift
Multiculturalism means people from different races and cultures marry each other: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interracial_marriage#United_Kingdom According to the UK 2001 census, black British males were around 50% more likely than black females to marry outside their race. British Chinese women (30%) were twice as likely as their male counterparts (15%) to marry someone from a different ethnic group. As of 2005, it is estimated that nearly half of British-born African-Caribbean males, a third of British-born African-Caribbean females, and a fifth of Indian and African males, have white partners. As of 2001, 2% of all marriages in the United Kingdom are inter-ethnic.[143] New Studies are being conducted by London South Bank University called Parenting 'Mixed' Children: Negotiating Difference and Belonging
Grahame
sorry to be cynical. how is halal meat being imposed on the rest of us. i don't mind either way, but would be interested to know. It is not so much the meat but the method of slaughter.

Kaimani
Has anyone ever set out the criteria for success or failure of multiculturalism? It seems that there are probably many points between those absolutes, and to declare somthing as nebulous as "multiculturalism" a failure without data seems a very odd kind thing. exactly. the same as declaring it a roaring success. by its nature it has to be arrived at by a process. we're some way along on that process. it won't be in our generation, i don't think, when we can have enough 'data' and 'evidence' to say either way. discodown
What an evasive answer.I don't see why. Lots of people object to halal slaughter. I don't understand why myself, killing is pretty much killing
