Pictures of Derwent/Howden Dam under construction

Recommended Posts

If you go round the back of Grindleford Train station, past the ruins of Padley Hall, then follow the footpath up the hill you come to the base of Padley Incline. Walk up the very steep hill and at the top you will find the remains of the Padley Brake Drum. It is here that wagons full of stone from the Bolehill Quarry were sent down for the building of the Dams.

Certainly a fascinating subject, and a very nice spot to visit.

Took a trip out yesterday and went into the derwent dam museum, that is packed with pictures done by this guy.

Just found this out and they are all for sale, after chatting to vic hallam who runs it.

is there only me who thinks these photos are rubbish? badly superimposed, fictitious, fanciful I could keep on but you get the picture (no pun intended)

The mechanics of those showing lancasters dropping bombs and taking out the dam are simply figments of someone's imagination and they have the cheek to charge £29.99 for something which any of us could do with a couple of hours and photoshop
