Are the US behind Assange extradition?

Recommended Posts

Here's a few figures to conjure with:

£240,000 - Bail money raised by celebrity supporters for Julian assange who spent 8 days in prison on suspicion of rape, sexual molestation and unlawful coercion

£1,000,000 - Value of deals signed for autobiography of Julian Assange

£60,000 - Money raised so far for defence of Private Bradley Manning who has spent 7 months+ in solitary confinement accused of leaking documents to Julian Assange

A furious backpeddle indeed.

In your enlightened and expert opnion do you think that there may be possible repercussions from these leaks at some time in the future or not?

Dont forget that a US soldier downloaded a lot of sensitive information. That's treason by any other name especially by a member of the armed services who swore an oath of allegience and was in a position of trust.

Also why is this Drama Queen Assange fighting extradition to Sweden using expensive greedy British barristers to defend him?

They might as well throw away the money for Private Manning. As I have already stated he was a member of the armed forces, had sworn an oath of allegience and was in a position of trust. The military dont take kindly to acts like that. He'll get nothing out of all this except a few years in the stockade, a Dishonorable Discharge and a life of dead end jobs.

Every job application in the US asks for information on military service. A D.D is a death sentence for any hopes of getting into even a half decent job. Aside from the D.D he will also have a record as a convicted felon

The silly little jerk is all washed up.

Possibly. In many ways I'd have to say "hopefully". That is afterall why they were leaked.

Also don't forget, it was downloaded because his concience could not allow what he percieved as illegal or morally questionable practices by those same armed services.

Also why is this Drama Queen Assange fighting extradition to Sweden using expensive greedy British barristers to defend him?

Why not? I'm sure if you were accused of such a crime you'd want the best possible defence.

I don't see why defending yourself suddenly makes you a drama queen, or why the cost of his barristers is in any way relevant.

You seem to forget that there's a war going on. Oh and by the way the Queen's army are part of it. Wonder how many of them will die 'cause of the leaks ?

I know (the GF's daughter's boyfriend is going back to Afghanistan for a third tour).

Because of the leaks? Probably none. Because we're involved in a war? Possibly many more than need to:(.
