Privatisation of our forests

Recommended Posts

I don't see the logic behind protesting. Most of the scaremongering is over fears - not facts - that a private landowner would close off the forest to public access.

Surely the only time to protest is if a private company buys a forest and then closes the access?

Its amusing to note that in 1991 Paul and Linda McCartney bought a nice big 80 acre chunk of woodland then closed off all access - to prevent stag hunting.

Still feel the same way about private ownership?

By that time it would be too late.

We are all complaining but what are we doing about it? How about having protests at the forests or are we all, as with most things we complain about, just talking!

There are many things you can do. Sign the online petition in my previous post, contact your local MP to try and gain his/her support. If your MP is in favour, organise a massive petition from people within his/her constituency... as your MP, they might change their opinion if they stand to lose the faith of voters.

Might be a bit off topic but if the Lib Dems had sided with Labour what would Labour have done?Would they have said "No we don't want to be in power 'cos it's a hung parliament"? They are all the same.....

No, it would still have been a hung parliament. No party should be in power until they win outright, whatever their politcal allegiance.

Now back on topic please, that's why I said it's a different matter.

Why don't 38degrees(the petition people) provide any links to the consultation documents?

http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/INFD-8D3G4M

Hundreds of thousands of objections in the document may provide a more valid reason for change compared to a poorly worded petition?

Why is it even being consulted. The fact of the matter is, they are our forests/woodlands and the motion of them being privatised should not even be out there. End of!

Not Skull and Bones*?!

Have you ever considered that these meetings may be completely benign? They may get together and drink cherry coke and eat pringles and play scrabble? There may not be anything sinister about it at all.

If you are going to say there is something sinister do you have a single piece of solid evidence you could use to convince me that it is?
