jjbarnesfan
I have just returned from a Thomas Cook holiday to Tenerife. It's a 4 hour flight so we went equiped with the various sets of headphones we have accumulated over the years. We were amazed to find out they were useless. To be able to watch or listen to any inflight entertainment, passengers were obliged to fork out £ 7.50 each to hire a PSP. Is this now common on holiday flights? OOmpa
That sounds ridiculous and I have never heard of it before on any other airlines, not flown with Thomas Cook though for a good few years!
iansheff
Was the same in October when we went on Cooks, earlier in the summer on a Thomson flight was just the headphones for sale.
Agent Orange
I don't buy them if the flight is under 4 hours. I am happy reading a book and avoiding the expense of seeing films that I have seen before.
callippo
low cost carriers, if they offer any kind of in-flight entertainment at all, will always charge for it just like they will for food and drinks. what's happening is that full-service airlines are now copying low-cost carriers in a bid to cut their costs. I was on an Ethihad flight last week, they are a full service national 'flagship' airline, and they're just being a lot tighter with the food and drinks than they were a few years ago. DYKWIA
Not flown with an airline of the type that Thomas Cook would come under for a good number of years but i see this as common place with that sort of an airline, ie low cost / charter airline. Charge you for every little extra, luggage, meals, airport check in and now even inflight entertainment.
JPMiddleton
Ive flown thomas cook recently and wasn't charged?
iansheff
They have charged for inflight entertainment for years in the guise of having to buy headsets to listen to the entertainment, Cooks used to sell an adaptor to plug your own headphones into so you could use them. swordfish1
To be honest, I'd much rather them charge for in flight movies, headphones, meals etc rather than the extortionate fees for hold baggage, check in fees and the soon to be investigated fees for credit/debit cards. olilew
We flew with Monarch airlines and the charge was £8 each, each way! That would've been £64 for the holiday (4 of us). I say 'would've' because needless to say we didn't pay it!
