Miss_S_83
Edited again as got further with planning Right... date maybe August this year. Either Fri 11, 19 or 26 Aug or Sat 13, 20 or 28 Aug. Will be an early wedding- about 10 or 10.30. After the wedding, photos etc, I was thinking a pub meal somewhere nice, hopefully weather be nice (maybe?!). But not expecting all of the guests (about 45-50) to come for that. Just family and anyone else that wanted to. That would be pay and get there yourself though.. is that harsh? Then back for an evening do (yet to decide where) at night, disco, bar, buffet from early evening- about 6 or 7- until 12. Any ideas for a nice large pub in or on outskirts of Sheffield that I can go to for good pub grub and beer? Is that cheeky? I was thinking of a 2 part reception but I think 12 hours of being in the same place with 2 buffets and booze will be too much for me! icingcarol
Me again! As you can tell I am eager to get things rolling... I think I have decided the following. Reg Office... I know the cost, but can you tell me how far ahead you have to book, need a room for about 50 people max, can be less if it would be too crammed. Venue- I would ideally want a reg office do later in the afternoon so I could go straight to the evening do and guests. That way I would only have to do 1 buffet ( a good one though). The venue ideally would be a room big enough to seat about 100 people max, with a bar( and someone behind it of course!), a dancefloor (or space to dance at least). Places may do a package but if not, I would want a DJ. Easily accessible for all- old and young. Decor- keep hearing about balloons. Not decided on colour theme yet but most likely pearly white and pink/s. I love the idea of balloons. I have visions of the tables covered in tableclothes, a simple piece in the middle, nice chair covers, a bit of ribbon. Nothing too fancy, just simple and pretty. Favours- no idea in what form these come...no idea! Flowers- again, no idea! Not overly fussed about spending £100s on flowers TBH. No problem with fakes either. Cake- Probably a 3 tier cake, would like each layer to be different though or at least 1 choc one! Or plan good old jam n sponge. Dress- need to lose weight first, was looking at eBay as am wanting to spend less than £100 on the dress and I know it can be done. Bridesmaids- again, eBay. Got last ones for a diff wedding from USA, they were gorgeous. Suit- No idea, be after a lovely grey tailored suit. Can hire. Catering- again not sure if this comes included in the cost of some places but if not, simple finger buffet for all guests in the evening. Invites etc- nothing too fancy. Pretty, simple and effective That's all. Wedding rings- after plain, polished 9ct gold D shaped bands the heavier the better but it's about cost. Would be happy with cheap ones as long as they are 9ct gold and shiny and decent! Photos- would only want photos from when I arrived at my wedding, the ceremony, the reception, etc. Not before or at home etc. Car- not overly fussed, no one I know has a nice enough car that looks wedding-y so probably the cheapest wedding car decorated with a bit of pearly white ribbon or something, hired for.. say, 3 hrs? Enough time to get me there, wait, take me to the reception. Honeymoon- will have to wait! Hair and nails. Would like nails 1-2 days before. Hair on the day. I (at the mo) have mid legnth red dyed hair. Would like it longer, will leave to grow. WOuld probably just require styling on the day. Not decided on up do or natural and down but prettied up. Always preferred it down but needs to be tidy! Make-up.. can do myself. Any ideas appreciated. x Hi I do Budget wedding cakes, have a look on my website Carol in Swinton on Rowms Lane Celebration Cakes, hope this helps
indiechick
If you want a late reception worth bearing in mind that Sheffield registry office on a Saturday do not do afternoon weddings. Latest is 11.30am.
Miss_S_83
Good point indiechick! Friday it is then... I think I'll be looking at nex year now then, presumably all cheap decent reception venues would be booked up for this summer. x
Miss_S_83
Provisional dates are- Fridays 26th August or before (back to around 22nd July BUT from 12/8 to 26/8 better) Sat 27th Aug or before (back to around 16th July BUT from 13/8-27/8 better). Reason being school hols, my hols, weather, babysitter easier to get if can honeymoon (doubtful), as school hols so no messing getting LO to school). I am starting to look at venues now... all of those dates are a 10 or 10.30am wedding latest at Sheff Reg Office so my plans of a late wedding not happening but as long as I can find a cheap n nice way to stretch the day out I don't mind. Ideas anyone? Helllp! x
foodmummy
Hi seen all your posts but have you thought about a ceremony/reception being in the same place and later in the afternoon ? We had ours this way got married 2.30 had a bar and a lovely afternoon tea and cakes sat and chilled and the other 100 of our guests joined us in the evening. To be honest the day goes so fast youve no time to think. If you are looking at a venue just pm me and ill get back to you when I have checked availability. Dont forget dont try and please everyone its your day so enjoy

Leah-Lacie
My plan of action is Church at 2pm arrive at stars for about 3.30pm, buffet for 50 in Mayfair room move into stars at 5.30pm some guests may like to visit the casino during this interval! Main reception begins at 7.30pm with an extra 60-70 guests arriving then Hopefully by choosing stars and mayfair room, all will run smoothly with little work for myself!
