Swallownest; Aston; Dinnington; Killamarsh; Kiveton Park; North Anston..

It sounds good, I think the houses we are looking at in Swallownest are around Skipton Road...is that nice?

I've never felt concerned about walking through there on my own and the houses do look very nice, although the main snicket which is massive shortcut to the shops if your walking can sometimes be full of teenagers drinking and stuff. Saying that i've not needed to walk through there for quite a while and the police do seem to be more on top of antisocial behaviour than they used to be.

If your looking for something like that I would say Woodhouse Mill is about the same standards - maybe a little bit more criminal activity around there but it is quite a bit bigger. Its only two minutes down the road from Swallownest and also has a village centre with lots of shops and cafes etc.

What is wrong with Killamarsh the houses looked nice there? We are seeing a few houses around Aston that look a little rough, is that a fair impressions?

Tom

nothing wrong with killamarsh i was born there and both my parents lived there for 30 years (my dad still does). i lived there for 27 years never been broken into, never had any trouble at all.

you have got the fields off the back that run all the way up to morrisons in halfway. i spent all my time as a child playing in the fields and walking the dog round there. also of course you have rother valley.

yes everyone knows each other but i like that its nice.

I grew up in South Anston and I also lived in Woodsetts a few years ago.

It is a lovely area. Very peaceful. Some great property at good prices and loads of open countryside.

The only downside is travel. If you work in Sheffield city centre you will need to allow at least an hour each way at peak times. In the end, this was the reason why I moved. I found the drive really unpleasant.

And where do you live in the posh side of Anston I bet even they have places to afford.

I don't live "in the posh side of Anston".

Saying you need a flamesuit to live in swallownest is wrong has there has only been a few fires here in all my 47yrs, you give others the wrong impression.
You should Google what "putting a flamesuit on" means, in Internet Forum parlance ;)

I've spent the majority of my life living in Aston/Aughton and think it's an ideal area for young families and commuter couples to live. My only beef is we don't have a huge amount of shops like Wickersley in Rotherham when we are about on par sizewise.

It works for me as I socialise in Sheffield and now work in Rotherham so ideal. I've also commuted to Donny,Leeds and Barnsley living here.

It's ten mins to all the shopping centres (Crystal Peaks, Parkgate, Meadowhall) got all the local services you need, it's just not convenient for the tram unless you drive to CP or Meadowhall first but If you drive, it's great.

My gran also lives in Aston and I don't worry about her going to the shop, church or any of the other places she goes locally.

Crime rates are really low, the biggest problem are groups of kids hanging around the shops but they really aren't any trouble and aren't doing much that I didn't do when I was their age.

I am a single person and I feel very safe round here and walking round at night.

Astons lovely. I live there, just near the hall, and wouldnt want to move. Its a mile from Swallownest. Which has its good points- quite a few shops/the main buses all stop there. However as someone else has pointed out, part of it are a bit.. rough..

The other side over near aston is nice though- its quiet, and just off the motorway junction

Downside is, theres not that many buses- complete nightmare if it snows and you dont drive.
