Dominic Littlewood (Is that his name?) does a BBC program on catching benefit cheats... he'll probably be busy during next couple of years
Turbo
There are many people in our present world who are both poor and happy. When the population are all poor they accept their lot and get on with it. Brazil is a good example. Unfortunalely in Britain there is a massive (and ever increasing) gap between the rich and poor. The rich like to flaunt their wealth which makes the poor feel inadequate and resentful.
CorkerSWFC
Back when people were poor, they could leave their doors unlocked. Then people got a bit richer, they hoarded possessions and got paranoid about security. Nowadays a lot of people can leave their doors unlocked as they are poor. They have nothing worth pinching you see. One of the joys of poverty. Can you think of anymore? Blame the government......

Its not just the rich flaunting their wealth though, it's the constant nagging that you want, need, must have all this stuff... adverts, tv programmes, films, the internet, the neighbours, your workmates... it's all about richer is better. We should be concentrating on the improtant stuff, creating a good society where our kids can grow up loved, safe and secure. That should be important. Of course we now need money for that, to buy a nice house in the right catchment area, to put them through university, help them get on the property ladder etc etc... I wholeheartedly agree with every word of that statement. We are encouraged to want more in a country where only the very rich are still getting richer. I would add that the people who caused all the problems to begin with are the ones getting richer!
chem1st
Unemployment (the lack of work), breeds an ethic in people to work for each other, in kind or for small amounts of cash to get the odd scrap of food, fuel, tobacco, beer or other narcotic. This builds communities.

Turbo
Brilliant film, another Pete classic told fella RIP !!! My fear is that the feeling of helplesness that was felt in the dark ages of Thatcherism are about to return for some years to come. Unless we as a population can be big and strong enough to revolt and kick butt.
