Call of duty - Addiction

Recommended Posts

I mistakedly bought my son call of duty one christmas and saw a major deteriation in his behavior, so bad that a year later I have had to take away all access to his playstation.

He is not misbehaved in anyway but his gaming quickly got out of control and the result was his grades started slipping, his attitude changed for the worse, he became rude and snappy (especially if you interupted his game play)

Taking it away has brought back my son back as he had stopped communicating with the family, stopped wanting to eat, wash, socialise etc!!

However now that the school holidays have arrived he has become quite moody as he feels he has nothing to do, all his friends are not out and about as they are all busy gaming!

Part of me feels sorry for him but I had tried to reduce his gaming to 1 hour a night but it got to the point where I was having to physically remove the games from him or he would just continue to play!

Several times I confiscated them but he just borrowed copies from his friends, I even found him playing it at 5am on a school night while he was banned.

The final straw was his school report where my previously intellegent son was now predicted to get D's in his GCSE's

The reason for my post is really to get suggestions on how I handle it from here, I've been on the internet and it would seem that it is quite a common problem, even amongst adults!

Has anyone had similar problems that might be able to advise me?

Thanks for reading :help:

Take some time off work and spend some quality time outdoors with your son :)

As far as I'm aware you can use the parental control settings on the PS3 to limit playtime. I don't own a PS3 so dont know for sure how it works. You can look at this site for more info...
