ricgem2002
EVERY soldier has the option. but you do have to explain yourself and then the powers that be decide. there are many reason why soldiers refuse to fight some wars. if the army feels that a Muslim soldier who says he can go fight in Iraq etc is jerking their chain they'll force him or court marshal him if he refuses. but, for the most part, they're sympathetic. understandably so, i think. didnt the army shoot its own for not going to where they were sent (i think it was in ww1 and ww2)
andygardener
Well he's kind of got a point. People who join the army can't put too much stock in 'thou shall not kill' or 'the golden rule'. I think thou shalt not kill is actually translated as thou shalt not murder. Which gives a lot of "outs".
Kaimani
didnt the army shoot its own for not going to where they were sent (i think it was in ww1 and ww2) they did, in both. and it's still very hard to get away with being a conscientious objector, for example, but the option is there.
