brocco
When our new pals over at Sheffield City Hall invited us to put something on with them in their lavish Grand Ballroom, we made like the man from Del Monte. We are thus absolutely delighted to announce that perennial DiS favourites (not to mention recent Mercury nominees) Wild Beasts will headline this special event on Saturday 14 May – we reckon the Ballroom will be the perfect setting to hear songs from the Kendal-spawned quartet’s third album, which will be released on Monday 9 May via Domino. Beasts in the Ballroom, anyone? We’ll be announcing the stellar supporting cast soon, but know that it’ll run from 7pm-2.30am so there’ll be plenty to get your teeth into! Tickets go on sale this Friday, 25 February, from the venue’s website - the first 50 will be at the discounted rate of £13.50, so don’t sleep! Event information: DrownedinSound and Sheffield City Hall presents: WILD BEASTS - http://www.wild-beasts.co.uk Wild Beasts are set to release their much anticipated third album, Smother, on 9th May 2011. The follow-up to the Mercury-nominated and critically acclaimed Two Dancers will be available on CD (WIGCD267), LP (WIGLP267) and via digital download (WIG267D). Born out of an intense six week period of writing in East London and a month recording in remotest Wales, Smother was co-produced by the Kendal four-piece with long term collaborator Richard Formby. An album of intense atmosphere, space and beguiling rhythm, Smother is formed of ten songs which linger in the memory, each track pulsing with sensuality. Bold, textured and romantic, Smother is a deeply personal and immensely affecting record, which maintains the delicate and evocative form of beauty Wild Beasts have made their own. A truly impactful record from a unique and special band, Smother sees Wild Beasts continuing to brave their own way, outside the vicissitudes of fashion. + VERY SPECIAL GUESTS/DJs @ Grand Ballroom, Sheffield City Hall, Barker's Pool, S1 2JA Date: Saturday 14 May 2011 Doors: 7pm Age restrictions: 18+ Price: £13.50 Early Bird / £15.50 Advance / MOTD Telephone: 0114 2 789 789 TICKETS ON SALE FRIDAY 25 FEBRUARY

brocco
Perfume Genius will be Main Support for this, his album Learning is easily one of last year's best - we think this is a bit of a coup, frankly, as his other UK dates are all high profile headline shows.
