SHYTOT
I know there is, but I wanted to know how to report it. A charity doesn't HAVE to have a number, that's part of the problem. An organisation must register with the Charity Commission if: it is set up in England and or Wales the majority of charity trustees live in England and Wales the majority of the assets are in England and Wales it is registered as a company in England and Wales it has a total income of more than £5,000 a year Organisations in Scotland must register with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator. Nagel
I can't, last time I did the thread was deleted. No it wasn't. It's here - http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=730468 What did the police say when you reported it? I would have thought they have no choice but to act in a case of fraud like this once reported. You can also try any of these organisations listed here - http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=how+to+report+a+fake+charity&aq=8m&aqi=g7g-m3&aql=&oq=fake+charity

That google link contains no where to report a fake charity, I can use google myself thanks. As I mentioned, many organisations such as the Charity Commission only deal with registered charities. Edit: The police require names of the people that set up the charity, names of victims and a lot more information than I have.

The other 2 lines to use would be trading standards and the tax authorities
dave_dave
The other 2 lines to use would be trading standards and the tax authorities Thank you. Just remembered where this email from consumer direct came from, trading standards direct you to report this sort of thing to consumer direct, they then reply informing you to report a registered charity to the charity commission and a non-registered charity to the police. Why is it so difficult to report something illegal?
