medusa
I've spent over 20 years trying to lose my accent and a Sheffield accent would be hugely preferable to my natural one!

HarmOKnee
Nothing to be ashamed of, be proud of your accent! There are times when I have to try & lose the accent a bit when talking to people from other areas or countries, but I never try and speak 'posh', it's just a matter of pronouncing words so that the 'foreigners' can understand. As my mother always say "tha can tek a lass outta Yorkshire, but tha'll never tek Yorkshire outta' lass!"
