Better off on benefits?

I've worked for many years and must admit I really enjoy it.

However, it seems like life is better claiming from the state and here is why.

People on benefits seem to go out more and seem to enjoy life in general. For me the majority of wages go straight to everyone else for gas, electric and all other bills etc but yet folks on benefits have these and can still have enough to go out and have a great time.

The one thing I miss is socialising outside of work due to lack of money and I'm sure I am not the only one.

My family are surviving on benefits after my partner was made redundant a few months ago and i can tell you that whatever money goes into our account gets spent on bills, rent and food. Any spare money left over gets saved so we dont struggle as much the month after. There is no money for us to socialise - go out ect, those people who do seem to have a flourishing social life probably have one at the sake of someone else eg. their kids going without something.

Everyone pays gas and electric. I dont think those on benefits have more fun at all.

Don't you watch the news? The Tory led government are intending to make it so that no one on benefits will receive more than the average wage. Or something like that :help: They're bringing a common sense approach to it all.

it depends on your situation, for me, claiming benefits would allow me to go out and socialise more (partly due to being able to afford it, but mostly because I wouldn't be too tired to from working through the week, which is the biggest problem at the moment)

on benefits I would be getting about the same monthly income as i'm getting currently, and have more free time... i'm not saying I would prefer to be on benefits, because there's so much more hassle (fortnightly sign-on, job search, job placements and schemes etc.)

but that will soon stop, as they are going to be virtually forcing people into voluntary work, and saying you will loose all nebefits for up to 3 years if you don't take a job when offered...

yeah, but are you aware that the AVERAGE wage (country wide) is about 25k/year

Median earnings of full-time male employees were £538 per week in April 2010; for women the median was £439.

(Source: http://www.statistics.gov.uk/cci/nugget.asp?id=285 )

I wish I was even on 20k, or even 15k year to be honest....

plus you feel like absolute gog-dirt for not working, you have too much time on your hands, its a nightmare.

Your premise that 'people on benefits seem to go out more and seem to enjoy life in general.' is a nonsense.

It's so vague as to be worthless.
