All The Young will issue their debut single ‘For The First Time’ on April 4th on the Midlands Calling label.

Formed in Stoke by brothers Ryan (vocals/guitar) and Jack Dooley (bass / backing vocals), All The Young built a solid fanbase in their home town. Working from a demo studio in a church’s storage room, the quartet built an enviable catalogue of songs as they looked to play shows further afield.

Pretty pleased to announce that also playing tonight will be

Films

Leeds-based four-piece FILMS create works of absolute modern beauty. Enigmatic and heartfelt, the band tag themselves as “jump-folk”, a self fabricated genre that we pray inspires others to jump on their undoubtedly unique and inspiring bandwagon.

With debut track ‘Breezeblocks’ creating instant intrigue back in January, these relative newcomers have already honed a remarkably solid style. Thin and exceedingly basic guitar rhythms provide the basis for urgent and often trippy drum-work, there’s a whisper of something a little more urban which underpins their post-folk, piano-tinged sound. But the facet of FILMS which already leaves them standing head and shoulders above the rest, are the weird and wiry vocals of Joe Newman. Deeply sincere, his wording and candid delivery combine to instant gut-wrenching and almost tear-jerking effect on tracks like ‘Matilda’ which basks in despondent majesty.

Currently unsigned, word of mouth alone will ensure the band’s inventive and original take on emotion will feature in an abundance of people’s highlights of 2011. Exquisite and mind-blowing, FILMS are an epic discovery.

Driftrun

The ever-evolving sound and uplifting experimental fusions of this Sheffield-based quartet have been gathering momentum amongst gig-going punters up and down the country for the last 3 years.

This charismatic collaboration has thus far given birth to a signature musical genus that has been a breath of fresh air to the illustrious Sheffield music scene; lacing their indie-rock roots with an inspired blend of electronic beats, synths and drum & base rhythms that will make the most slothful of hairs on the back of one’s neck stand to attention.

Their latest track, ‘Addiction’, is a fine example of their current creative direction, and with new material due to be recorded in December, 2011 is set to be one hell of a year for the lads… Watch this space!!
