Space Shuttle and ISS over Sheffield

Can see it from High Green, well it's the brightest thing I can see apart from the moon

 

Well, the thing I was looking at isn't moving. But I just spotted something similar moving really fast in the sky, not flickering or anything. So I guess that was it?

All I bit funny really even the wife's got her head stuck out of the bedroom window now.

Look like staying up till midnight to see this Iridium flare.

Didn't see the ISS although I stood on the Bolehills. Not surprising really as it's dark now and they'd probably turned the lights off and gone to bed (or just closed the curtains?)

 

I'll go and look for the iridium flare in half an hour though.

I saw it earlier, my mate said it was a moon, I replied "that's no moon, that's an international space station".

Just remember, with the Iridiums they start off very dim and gradually brighten to their peak over a minute or so, so keep scanning the sky for anything moving at the exact time. Frequently people miss them right up until their peak.

If you're trawling SF for threads about things you're not bothered about, then posting on them to tell everyone you're not bothered about them -I'd say it's probably time to turn the PC off.

I assume I have, since there's not much else going on up there! About same 'elevation' as the Moon. Only visible for about 10 seconds though, presumably because I'm in town?
