purple.sarah
The manager of the aquatics centre in the story below won't sell the fish to anyone for use in a spa as he thinks that they would have to be kept at near starvation levels to be effective http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/business_2_1815/concerns_about_fish_beauty_treatment_1_2351347?action=logout&commentspage=0 That's interesting, in the same article it also has info on how Appy Feet say they keep their fish so it shows both sides: "Christina Wright, founder of the national chain Appy Feet, which has just opened a spa in Queensgate, said: “Appy Feet’s stores have regular inspections from animal welfare representatives and are complimented on how well the fish are looked after. “All of the fish are fed on a high protein salmon-based soft food every night which has been specifically designed for them by our own micro-biologist. In addition each Appy Feet store has at least one specialist fish keeper.”
Shazbat
I had mine done yesterday at Crystal Peaks Sole Sensations - it was my understanding that if you have broken skin, athlete's foot, etc., you aren't allowed to have the treatment. My feet have been checked both times before the treatment, so surely this means perhaps that salons are cutting corners to 'feed the craze' and make money? As I have psoriasis - and in particular on one foot - I'm supposedly a prime beneficiary of this kind of foot treatment.

Infection warning over fish pedicure craze that is sweeping the country http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1361282/Infection-warning-fish-pedicure-craze-sweeping-Britain.html?ito=feeds-newsxml This is not as silly as it sounds, and could be serious. Many people have athletes foot, skin conditions and even aids. Are customers feet checked first ?

digglydog
What's wrong with using a pumice stone ? The fish Spa on Snig Hill managed to kill all their fish before they even opened. I saw them all swirling round the tank. Dead.It is just a stupid gimmick.

I have a few fish spare in my tank, what hourly rate can they expect to make each? Which employment agency should i contact, so I can pimp my fish out?
