Shogun
Can anyone remember the map board with flashing lights at the top of the pond street bus station?, it was there till about mid 70s time I can remember it was about 7 foot high and about 10 foot wide saying you are here ,with loads of buttons and flashing lights it was a magnet for the kids to mess about with. mickw
I remember that and I used to mess about pressing all the buttons. Near it was an old guy with a hot chestnut cart me mam used to buy us a cone for me to eat on bus home. Happy Days
saxon51
Spent many a futile moment there, trying to get all the lights on at the same time.
Beamish
Remember it well, as a kid I couldn't go past without pressing a button. If memory serves me right by the side of it was a 'Beech Nut' chewing gum machine. Seem to remember on each 4th go, or something like that, you got a free pack. Shogun
I wonder what happened to it ? I would like to think its in some collection somewhere or in some dark council store room collecting dust ,it was a pretty impressive piece of engineering to smash up and throw on the tip,bet it cost a packet to install in the past ,be nice if someone on the site had a bit of information about it.
