Dolphins are certainly intelligent enough to be self-aware, but they've never (to my knowledge) done anything to show it, though that might be to do with being an aquatic animal. There's an interesting experiment that was shown on the bestofyoutube.com site a few months ago, where they introduced dolphins to a mirror. It was fascinating the way they played with it, blowing bubbles etc like kids pulling faces. They also stuck markers on the side of some, and they immediately went to the mirror and angled themselves to see what the mark was. Pretty strong evidence of both awareness of self, and what a mirror does. doubt if they believe in a god though, they seem too sensible for that.
