Bulgarian
It's sad news for the athletes though, being used as political pawns.
purdyamos
With the extraordinary roll out of events since the start of this year though, who knows where and what Iran will be by the time of the Opening Ceremony? I believe the Iranian freedom movement is gearing up for another wave of protest anyway, perhaps this ridiculous decision will nudge the momentum onwards? Fareast
DiDoDatDoe-----well, yes, it would be nice if all nations could get together and compete in sports [ not much evidence it ever makes the world a better place though ! ]. However, in the present case, it 's not the world that has banned the Iranians for any reason but Iran that is shunning the Olympics. Do we all have to do XYZ just so that Iran is happy with everything ? Not much ' Olympic spirit ' evident there, methinks !!
Hadron
I am sure the sports people of Iran have a different view of their government. They would love to compete in the Olympics and show they are as good as any other nation.

Longcol
indeed i remember his interpretation of the logo looks like hes not alone................still doesnt mean its right tho lol He's probably been reading stuff by Ian R Crane who reckons the 2012 Olympics are a plot to take over the world with a false flag alien invasion or something. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/dec/05/olympic-games-2012-alien-conspiracy-theory Makes the "truthseekers" on SF look pretty tame by comparison (so far). carosio
When the bombs fly we can find peace and solace in the fact that we didn't have to entertain the dirty Arabs at the Olympics eh ? The Iranians aren't Arabs!
DiDoDoDatDoe
The Iranians aren't Arabs! And not everyones a ****, go figure. I was not stating it as a fact that they were, please try to read between the lines sometimes, it gets tedious having to spell everything out. Rupert_Baehr
Could that be because all their best runners, jumpers and swimmers have probably managed to go elsewhere?
