ShefMike
Will have to give it a whirl. Great potential that place, used to play snooker there years ago but gradually stopped going because it lacked atmosphere. Staff and punters always seemed a bit depressed! Hystryonyx
Went in for a drink last week. Great atmosphere. Great landlord. I've heard they're thinking of starting up live music if they get enough interest with the punters....
GandT
Left Crookes last year to move south. Wished they'd have splashed the cash years ago. Have they got a website as might pop in on my next visit ?
pippadoll
It is such a shame they have gone down the cheap food route; a good pub with decent food in Crookes is very much needed.
nicoisod
Love the new Old Grindstone! Moved to Crookes in Jan and began the hunt for a decent local that served food. Popped into the Old Grindstone and popped straight out again! Then saw it was closed for a refurb and have been back recently and it's really nice. They now serve food, drinks are reasonably priced, there isn't a colour they haven't used to decorate which in my opinion is a good thing! Although be warned it might not be to everyone's taste but I think it looks great! The best thing is the bar staff were so friendly and really seemed to be proud of the pubs new look. Really chuffed - we have now found our local!
rachud34
Good news this, the last lot were a disaster. It was owned by the "Sheffield Pub Company", which I'm aware is actually just a branding name for one of the massive pubcos, but I never worked out which one. Anyone know? I presume Greene King are new owners. Good luck to them, it's a boozer with plenty of potential but its been in decline for so long. The last lot tried there best!!!! beer
Anyone been in since it finished it's recent re-furb? I walked past last night and it looks a lot less tatty (even if the colour scheme reminded me of Animal from the Muppet Show ) It seemed full too (especially for a Tuesday night). Beer any good? Food any good? Service any good? Did you know that there was another pub called the Original Old Gridstone almost directly opposite the pub? SmallCompany
Its a shame they won't let in well behaved dogs - there are so few places to go that allow them in (I emphasis well behaved!!
