HbroChris
I can't understand the logic behind appointing Lockheed Martin. I'm sure the provisions of the Patriot Act will ensure that the US Government has unfettered access to our census information. Whilst I hesitate to quote from the Daily Wail, they were the first google hit. The spokesman added: ‘UK Data Capture is a UK-controlled and registered company. Vangent is a minority shareholder and therefore UK Data Capture is clearly not a subsidiary of a US company. This arrangement was put in place to ensure that the Patriot Act cannot apply. ‘Personal census information is protected by law. No data will leave or be held at any point outside the UK. esme
the full list is available from the ONS website here http://www.ons.gov.uk/census/2011-census/2011-census-questionnaire-content/2011-census-questions---england.pdf --edit-- sorry that's just the household questionnaire, I thought it seemed a bit short for something that's supposed to cover 30 odd pages
chem1st
Height, weight, political opinion. Amount of tobacco smoked, units of alcohol consumed. Are you happy? What is your favourite type of tree? Rashes of bacon consumed per week? Can you afford to go to the pub. Mortgage? total debt level? How many people live in this HMO? Can I have a cup of tea please. Just the usual things. To be honest though, it should be multiple choice, else those with degrees will struggle to fill it in.
esme
and don't forget that their guarantee of confidentiality doesn't actually count for anything see SRSA section 38, subsection 4 (http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2007/18/section/39)
CockneyMafia
In response to the actual question, perhaps "Do you, or any of your dependents, float when thrown on water?"
Snook
Isn't one of the questions about being happy in your marriage? That should make for some awkward conversations while filling it in.
wodger
I happen to think that this will be the most incomplete census ever. Yes we need a census to be able to account and plan for the future. Many of the questions are too invasive, I am told that certain questions will be voluntary and a choice not to answer will be included. Even then I am still apalled that an American Arms Company plus many other dubious things they get up to is responsible for compiling this census. There are also hints that the information will be available to law agencies amongst these agencies such as the C.I.A. I just hope that all of us refuse to fill these forms in. Another Labour Legacy.
