chem1st
Joe Bloggs is on the dole. He can get a part time job, of only 1 hour, but working one is preferable to working none. For his hours labour. What does he deserve (on top of his dole), for that hour? An amount of money equivalent to a pint or two of beer in his local pub perhaps? How much does he deserve for an hours work? cressida
Depends how quickly he works and what he is doing, say for instance mowing the lawn - I think £10 is reasonable maybe more depending on size of lawn

dave_dave
Why would he deserve anything different to a person working that job full time gets for one hour?
chem1st
Why would he deserve anything different to a person working that job full time gets for one hour? He wouldn't, but if he had 40 hours+ work a week he would not require a social safety net in the form of means tested benefits, unless he had children. Were asking what a working man deserves, albeit when taking into account a social safety net (a negative income tax if you like).

Then it's a question which makes no sense without knowing what the job is. He deserves an hours wage, for the going rate of that particular job, nothing more.
