andyofborg
Yeah, I'm still concerned about this 'swollen' can thing. How can a can, become 'swollen'? many bacteria produce an assortment of gases as they metabolise the contents, the gases can't escape from a can so it swells

skinz
Yeah, I'm still concerned about this 'swollen' can thing. How can a can, become 'swollen'? Tin is a metal sandwich in effect. If you dent it enough to break the inner layer you expose metal which can interact with the contents.

Gormenghast
My friend has bad food poisoning. Not sure what has caused it but she has eaten tuna out of dented and swollen tin. I've heard this can cause botulism, does anyone know more about botulism? Thanks As I remember it, botulism doesn't cause cans to swell, that's why it's so dangerous. You don't have any signs that anything is wrong.
