Not to be confused with swollen cans, they are bad in a different way. It's not just that, the air helps to protect the crisps & prevent them getting too badly broken in transit. upinwath Posted March 9, 2011 Share Posted March 9, 2011 Yeah, I'm still concerned about this 'swollen' can thing. How can a can, become 'swollen'? Problems in manufacture can cause this. A damaged can must be destroyed as there is a serious danger of contamination. One cause of blowing is microbiological activity within the container producing gases that expand the can.
