Chris BIO
PHONO. Saturday 2nd April @ SAWA, Arundel Gate. £4/£5 Well this bit of blurb should be pretty easy to write, mainly due to the fact that nobody knows who this secretive outfit are or where they're from. Phono presents: THE DEAD ROSE MUSIC COMPANY All we can tell you is that their music is next level, they've got a wicked label called Taikomochi and they blowing up big time with some major gigs under their belts (Mono_Cult's 4th birthday being one of them, as well as trips to Sydney, Moscow, Berlin and New York being listed alongside their Sheffield visit). We know they've had releases on ball-achingly cool labels like Wolf Music, Sleazy Beats and E.A.R., seeing their music get heavy support from tastemakers like Soul Clap, Illija Rudman, Horse Meat Disco and Phono's March guest Chris Duckenfield.....but that's about as much as we've got for you! Oh they've also done a fantastic podcast for Delusions of Grandeur and the single "Just a Bitter Love" was one of the best selling 12" records of 2010! That's honestly all we know about them; we're not even sure if they're coming here to DJ, play live, bang plates together or what. We did stumble across this quote, to give some idea of what to expect: “When we DJ we do the same thing, cutting, looping and re-sequencing on the fly, using different parts of tracks and fusing them together to create new sounds and textures. We just love seeing people dancing and going crazy.” Finger on the pulse as ever, we're buzzin' to have secured this highly sought-after booking for Sheffield, so lets wrap ourselves up in the mysterious vibes and enjoy a truly exciting and cutting-edge act hitting Sawa once again. http://www.myspace.com/thedeadrosemusiccompany Delusions of Grandeur podcast here (mix starts at about 31mins): http://delusionsofgrandeur.podomatic.com/entry/2011-01-11T15_48_30-08_00 * * * * * * * * * * Usual rules apply; Phono residents crew of Dan J, Alex Cooke, GrowMore and Dan Thorman will be your supporting cast, with that funk, soul, disco thingy going on in the bar downstairs too. * * * * * * * * * * * Saturday 2nd April * SAWA, Arundel Gate, just left of the O2 Academy * Taxation: £4/£5 * Doors from 9pm downstairs and 11ish upstairs
