Question to teachers and students about yoga classes

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

just looking for some input/advice.

I've been teaching yoga in and around Sheffield for the past few months now since I moved from Texas last year. I have enjoyed getting to know lots of different people and areas in Sheffield through my teaching. I've had a comfortable turnout at the classes I teach at gyms and other fitness centres, but I am starting to form my own independent classes. Like most new teachers I'm struggling to find an ideal location and time and way of advertising. It's also challenging to find a place where I'm not stepping on others teachers' toes. I've met some amazing teachers who have welcomed me into the yoga community in Sheffield. It seems there's so much yoga in Sheffield, yet I'm always meeting people who are looking for a class and interested in trying it for the first time. I think there's more than enough demand for classes to go around to all of us teachers, but I still try not to schedule a class at the same time, in the same area as another established class.

I'm considering holding a class at Hallamshire Tennis Club in the evenings; however, the earliest availability would be 8:30p.m. during the week. I'm thinking of holding a class from 8:30 - 9:30p.m. for students and others who tend to have late evenings. Does anyone have any input on this? I remember when I lived on my own I often had late workouts and enjoyed the random late night yoga class.

Greatly appreciate any input/feedback from other teachers or general public.

Thanks,

Shauna

I am interested in trying yoga and looked for a class about a year ago. I couldn't find a class with a time to suit me! I would be interested in a class 8.30-9.30 and the Hallamshire tennis club is a great venue too!
