Car service shock!

Recommended Posts

did the garage show you the parts they'd taken off?

No ... I should have asked to have seen the parts they'd removed but was more worried that my girlfriend was shaking and close to tears and I just wanted to get her out of the garage. I was hoping I could deal with the problem myself at a later date. I'm hoping to make him look at this thread to see the comments on his business practises (he likes computers judging by his website)

I don't expect to get any money back and consider the episode to be over and a lesson learned.

£250 is a lot to have to pay out unexpectedly over an original 'quote'

I know I can't 'name and shame' on here and certainly don't question his mechanical expertise (I hope)

I just think his business practices are very questionable. as another poster said ... what would have happened if we weren't able to pay? We wouldn't have got the car back ... he had the keys and knew it.

outrageous.. you have been ripped off.they should have rang u first.some garages say they done this and that when in fact they havent.i would have wanted to see parts they took off as well.what would have happened if you couldnt have paid the large bill.i would deffo report them to trading standards.. their ad is false.

I always make it clear that I expect a call if there is anything unexpected. That is not acceptable.

I had this once, when my dad took my car for a service and instead of the 120, it was 380. The addtional charge came from 2 wheel spacers (which are 12 quid new) and some long nuts as the wheels weren't clearing the calipers properly. Had I been the one to pick the car up they would have got a **** off tablet but my dad just paid it. I had no choice at the time to send dad as there wasn't a specialist in town and I work full time.

Lesson learnt.

Not quite sure what happened there ... posts removed.

Just to say, in answer to one of those posts ... the car's a Citroen C3 with 45000 on the clock and has a full service history and is definitely not on 'its last legs'
