UK unemployment at 17 year high

Recommended Posts

It is far too soon to judge the effect of the new government's policies on unemployment.

Look again in 5 - 7 years. in the meantime look back at the policies of 5 - 7 years ago for the effect on today's unemployment stat's.

Unemployment has been high for the past 15 years, in fact probably for around the last 25 years.

With regards the New Labour miracle of reducing unemployment, they simply put millions of people of working age on incapacity benefits, created bogus education schemes (in fact just added to what the torys did before), and helped with the expolsion of higher education as a means of fiddling the stats.

They also created non jobs in the public sector and also helped with the growth industry of " people creating rules so proper businesses cannot grow "

Your not telling me that you have been that easily fooled since 1997?

Hiphip hurrah, a price worth paying, get on your bikes and look for work etc etc

The Tories don't even have the excuse of low inflation this time. No matter what they say, or how they say it the Tories will always see high unemployment as a minor inconvenience and nothing more.

Never trust the Tories on jobs, they don't give a damn.

The rise of unemployment in those of working age was less than the increased amount of workers in retirement age.

Unemployment is up

Employment is up

Why is it? Wouldn't you agree with the OP in the context of a Labour government?
