Best to only start wars during artificially induced boom times like Tony "nice guy" Blair did.

Of course, those wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are still dragging on.....

If they stopped spending on WAR it would possibly collapse the economy even more, the same goes for Criminal activity if that ceased then the economy would just plunder. The economy is a deadly beast that has no morals or opposite, a really finely tuned complex entity that society can't do without now.

lets watch and pat ourselves on the back as these 'rebels' celebrate us bombing libyan government infantry units, for it will be these same 'rebels' that conduct terrorist and suicide atrocities against us as soon as civilians, schools, hospitals are bombed by mistake :(

Next time some prospective MP or councillor, or condem fanboy on this forum, tells you that cuts are inevitable, school building projects must be cancelled, libraries must close, lollypop ladies must be fired...etc...etc...etc...etc...etc then you can ask them how much the last three days and night bombardments have cost.

Each missile doesn't come cheap....I bet they cost more than a nurse.

Don't let them con you into thinking there is no money, and no alternative to cutting services.

It was reported on the news that 112 tomahawk missiles were launched at Libya on day one of the present conflict.

Cost of one 'block IV' tomahawk missile is listed at $1,066,465 (£651,037)

112 x £651,037 = £72,916,144.

Minimum wage for registered nurse = £20710

Therefore 72.9 million would pay for 3520 nurses for one year.

But on the other hand nurses are useless for bunker busting.

*All figures as near as dammit according to various sources. Do your own research.

We could drop live nurses and save in pension costs!

Because there definitely is. We could kill fewer brown skinned people and spend the money on improving our own society.

That way, both countries win. But our politicians appear to have reason to disguise their small appendages.

I'm amazed that this thread is full of people who are shocked at the cost of a cruise missile, but not at their deployment.
