Mr_Squirrel
So, are you a union man? (or woman) Do unions really count for anything anymore? Have unions helped your plight recently? Are Unions the way to progress in industry in the 21st century? Discuss.... or i will go on strike, work to rule or play the Strawbs until your ears bleed! mypalseger
Steelworker for 30+ years. Good pay, final salary pension scheme, excellent sick pay, finished 6 years ago with a big pay off and a great pension. Do you think the company would have given these without my union negotiation ? Had union legal support after a works accident too. Why do you think companies don,t like unions ?
best sheff
Short answer. The Unions are still strong and massively important, but the average worker cannot afford to strike these days, so as a result, Unions lost much power / support. Thats my opinion for what its worth.
