taxman
Oh dear, he really comes across as a bit of a plonker on this one. Challenged on a radio Sheffield phone in about coalition plans to cut Winter fuel payments he dismissed the callers' concerns, claimed it was a wild Labour allegation and maintained his Government was increasing payments. He has now said he will write to the radio Sheffield and to a caller to "clarify" his remarks.
chem1st
You could ask him allsorts for a prime time tv comedy programme. How much does it cost for your constituents to ride the bus Clegg? Etc.

Time him and the rest of the looney party was back in opposition
INTERVIEWER
In 2008 Clegg told an interviewer that the basic state pension was just £30 per week. It was about £90 at the time. Clegg is so wealthy he has never (like Cameron, Osbourne and the Queen) carried any actual money with him - such as coins or notes. Credit cards yes, real money no. He is one of the elite who do not require any money on their person.
libuse
He was a bit flaky on quite a few things in that interview; one caller asked him about the proposed changes to paediatric heart surgery in the region, which obviously will affect his own constituents, and he had to admit he knew nothing about it. He is embarrassingly out of his depth

I bet if you asked him about changes to inhertitence tax though, which will affect people like him, he will know the answer
banjodeano
It was really great to hear him squirming and blundering his way through it..how did he ever manage to get into such a high position.? the man is a buffoon...
studentbob
Out of his depth or not, he shouldn't have lied like that. I heard most of the interview live and commented on another thread about it. I would rather listen to Cameron than him.
the_rudeboy
His performance just added another nail to the LibDem coffin.
wednesday1
This plonker could only ever rise to the position of leader in a joke party, such as the Lib Dems. I remember a similar gaffe a few years ago when he didn't appear to know how much the state pension was worth.
