duckweed
I really don't think this is relevant to a history site unless you want to consider the history of public executions etc. Did you know women who killed their husbands were once burnt at the stake? redrobbo
should we bring back the death penalty Bring it back for what crimes? Murder? Spying for a foreign country? Sheep stealing? Why bring it back? Since the death penalty was abolished, the murder rate has dropped and there are very few cases of spies being uncovered these days. Are you perhaps a sheep farmer and your flock is being rustled?

pistonbroke
as i've said halibut whether dna is only used rarely or not and the courts are 100% sure somebody is guilty of murder then why not. maybe people who dont agree should think how they would feel if it was one of their nearest and dearest who was murdered. Because it's immoral, illogical, devalues humanity and creates more violence in an already violent society. It doesn't reduce offending either. In other words, it's crap. redrobbo
everyday they is a murder and the sentance they recieve is not long enough a life for a life Not long enough? The mandatory sentence for murder is life imprisonment. That includes anyone convicted of killing a loved one who is terminally ill in a so-called 'mercy' killing. How do you reconcile the fact that juries have been 100% sure somebody was guilty of murder - only for them to be released at a later date when in fact it was discovered they were innocent? In fact, how would you feel if you were found guilty or murder and sentenced to death, knowing that you were in fact innocent?

only_me
Peter Sutcliffe, Ian huntley, Brady and the late Hindly but to mention a few all deserved to be hanged in my opinion. These killers were guilty as sin.
