These killers were guilty as sin. yes i agree..they should have been.
beechnut
Nope, and that includes executed non-murderers who were posthumously pardoned.Good point, Banker. There are certainly some evil people in jail now who don't deserve to live, but bringing back the death penalty would also mean that innocent people could hang, as happened in the past. Another point is that when a murder conviction meant execution, juries were naturally reluctant to convict while ever there was any shadow of a doubt - and so guilty murderers got off scot-free. jmdee
I suppose it's better to let three murderers free, than to hang one innocent person.
Plain Talker
Bring it back for what crimes? Murder? Spying for a foreign country? Sheep stealing? Why bring it back? Since the death penalty was abolished, the murder rate has dropped and there are very few cases of spies being uncovered these days. Are you perhaps a sheep farmer and your flock is being rustled? My brother in law is from Derby. Where men are men and sheep are nervous.

cuttsie
Peter Sutcliffe, Ian huntley, Brady and the late Hindly but to mention a few all deserved to be hanged in my opinion. These killers were guilty as sin. The most prolific murderer in English history was Dr? Harold Shipman who was found guilty of killing 15 patients but who the police believe murdered between two to three hundred in all. He saved us a job and hung himself.
