No I didnt actually, but whether they were or weren't the fact is mistakes are made in hospitals, not just by foreigners, this surgeon certainly wasnt a member of the group your highlighting as being a particular problem.

 

BTW just prior to my recent hernia op the aneathetists was asking me some strange questions, it turned out that the notes he'd brought in were for someone having a completely different operation.

Presumably they were alert to this oversight pretty quickly? Hope yr well recovered btw

This was the same hospital where the Tanzanian nurse cut off my Identity tag and failed to replace it followed by the oygen supply that she wheeled the trolley onto.

He thinks that by cleverly swapping words he'll somehow be seen as a debater when in actual fact he's the antipathy of the opposite. You say Black he'll swear White. The irony is and I'm not sure if you've realised is that he doesn't give two hoots about your views, he's looking for a platform and you're giving it to him on a plate. And, where these are brought up in the context of immigrant nurses and doctors, I always have this perfect, personal counter-story to these, when our daughter -then aged 2- contracted staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome, which degenerated into full toxic shock syndrome, in 2006 in Dublin.

 

A life-threatening condition, still present in some SE Asian countries, but extraordinarily rare in Western Europe (1 case per 10 millions people per year in Germany).

 

How lucky were we that, when we took her to A&E, the A&E intern was Australian and had past experience of the condition from his previous SE Asia posting, so was able to diagnose correctly and start treating right away?

 

Comparatively, what would have been the chances of a correct diagnosis, if all interns/consultants had been Irish-only, having never seen or heard of a case in their life?

If you read the op and the topic, it's about racists and racism, not about labelling a whole set of people based on your account of an ID wrist band. Maybe the outcome of the wrist band incident was the cause of you having a frontal lobotomy rather than an enema, in which case I sympathise as the prescribed enema may have cleared your brains more suitably.

White Anglo Saxon probably had no significance whatsoever to him..his expertise in medicine being the main factor more than likely.

they did meet requirements, for the most part. both native and foreign. it's an agency that doesn't check them right, or a hospital or whatever. nothing to do with them being foreign. be honest, how many time have you had 'foreign' doctors and nurses and you came out better than when you went in?

 

Ive never had a good foreign doctor and im talking about doctors who have looked after my pregnant partner, they have very little bedside manner. They just follow the guidelines and never look out of the box and thats why a majority of foreigners in any profession cause problems.
